The town of Playas del Coco is small yet vibrant, with a single main street, Route 151, that leads directly to the beach entrance and main park. Along this thoroughfare, visitors will find a diverse array of bars, restaurants, and shops, all contributing to the town’s warm and welcoming atmosphere. Just beyond the downtown area, charming neighborhoods beckon, inviting exploration.

Location and Accessibility

Located on Costa Rica’s North Pacific coast within Guanacaste province, Playas del Coco is about 243 kilometers (151 miles) from San José. A scenic 4.5-hour drive will take you through the lush landscapes of the country. The closest airport is the Daniel Oduber Quiros International Airport (LIR), only 27 kilometers (17 miles) away, making it a breeze to reach this beach paradise.

During the festive season, especially around Christmas and New Year’s, the parties reach new heights, making it an unforgettable experience.

Playas del Coco is equipped with a public clinic, Ebais, as well as private clinics like Coco Medical Center. For shopping, the town features several souvenir stores where you can find local crafts, beachwear, and other treasures to take home.
